Each morning the catch arrives fresh and, wherever possible, at zero kilometres, and from it the Chef composes the menu of the day: no rigid formula, only the inspiration of what the sea has offered.

The sea's golden hour. A glass in hand, the Tiber a few steps away, and a small sequence of raw and fried bites as a prelude to dinner. Fine de Claire oysters, the day's tartare scented with Sicily, anchovy-and-stracciatella crostini, king prawns in kataifi: the Mediterranean in aperitivo form. Pair it with our signature serve, the Cocktail Mare Nostrum.
A list built for the sea: sparkling and champagne, whites with character, a few reds and dessert wines. From an everyday bubble to a contemplative glass, every label is chosen to converse with the catch.
Mare Nostrum was born of a longing: for the Sicilian sea, its light and its flavours, carried into the alleys of Trastevere. Roman by circumstance, Sicilian by origin, Mediterranean by choice, the name holds all our respect for the lands the sea unites, for their traditions and their history.

We are Friend of the Sea certified, because we believe the sea is loved by protecting it: a traceable supply chain, responsible fishing, a conscious choice. In an intimate room of around thirty covers, between the dining room and a small terrace, we welcome you as family. Because here flavour is not merely served: it becomes emotion.
